It is that time of year again, where we will start seeing people dressed up in strange outfits on 2 September 2016. Why? For a good cause of course! The annual Casual Day is just around the corner, and this year they want YOU to UP YOUR GAME!

What is Casual Day?

Good question. The organizers of the event, on their webpage state, “Casual Day is South Africa’s foremost fundraising campaign for persons with disabilities and is the flagship project of the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa (NCPPDSA)”. The event invites all South Africans to dress differently (with the theme for the year) in order to raise funds and awareness of persons with disabilities.

Hundreds of companies, schools and organisations who render services to people with disabilities will be taking part, and now so can you! But before you can dress up, you need to make your donation! In order to join the thousands of other students, parents, staff, business men & women; and all the rest, you need to buy your sticker for R10, which you wear on the day with your sporty outfit!

What is the theme for this year?

Well, this has been a sporty year so far, and Casual Day is keeping it going with the theme to UP YOUR GAME for persons with disabilities. So think Olympics, Paralympics, Boxing, Supporters, Coaches, and fun!

So what to wear to join the team? Hmmm…

Think bats, racquets, balls, swimming goggles or gymnastic ribbons. Dress like the sport supporter you are, or dress as the sports person you want to be! The test is to see how out-the-box you can be! Use your imagination, and GO FOR GOLD! Paint your face with the colours of your team, bring on the pom-poms as a cheerleader, get your boxing gloves on (without the punching practice on others of course), and dust off your vuvuzelas!

Where can I get a ticket?

Feel like joining in the good cause, but you need to get a ticket? Then fear no more! You can purchase a ticket at the North-West University Vaal Triangle Campus (NWU Vaal), from Building 23 now!

So let’s show our team spirit and see if you can UP YOUR GAME against your friends! And remember, there are always photographers around on Campus, who may just take a snap or two!
