NWU Vaal inaugurates new student leadership

On Tuesday, 6 September 2016 the community on the Vaal Triangle Campus of the North-West University (NWU Vaal) inaugurated its newly elected student leadership for the term 2016/2017.

Taking the lead as the Chairperson of the Campus Student Representative Council (CSRC) is Lesego More, a BA Law student and seasoned student leader. He served as the Academics Officer in the 2015/2016 CSRC and also served as the Legal Officer on the Institutional Student Representative Council (ISRC).


During the formal inauguration the new leadership was not only introduced to the campus community, but also pledged their allegiance to the campus by publicly undertaking the NWU Vaal Oath of Office.  Dignitaries present included Prof Dan Kgwadi (Vice-Chancellor), Prof Linda du Plessis (acting Campus Rector), Ms Prem Coopoo (Dean of Student Affairs) and Mr Jacob Simango (Director: Student Leadership and Engagement).

The highlight of the event was a motivational keynote address by well-known management professional life coach and author, Dr GA Lechuti. As a Master Trainer for Dr John C Maxwell’s Leadership Development Programmes in Africa, Dr Lechite has given talks and training for various high-level companies in a myriad of industries such as: Anglo American Platinum, MTN South Africa, South African Aviation Authority, South African Police Service, Nedbank and Liberty Life Insurance.
