Valentine’s Day… A day where all of a sudden, red and pink are THE colours to be wearing. The smell of roses is EVERYWHERE, and chocolate sales see an increase like no other holiday. But the question sometimes is: What do I do with my special someone on the day of love? Well… wonder no more! On 14 February 2017, Ebukhosini residence, along with Student Engagement and Leadership (SEAL) will be hosting a Valentine’s Movie Night!

What to expect?

Picture this: The area by Building 6… Stalls selling popcorn, hot dogs, roses and cupcakes (to name just a few). A DJ playing love songs in the background, as you find the perfect spot to cuddle and watch a film that Cupid himself would be proud of. Now that sounds like a great way to spend some quality and romantic time with your significant other.

What makes it even better? Between 17:00 and 18:00 you will be able to pick and dedicate love songs, that the DJ will play before the main attraction of the night.. From 18:00, the movie begins! But not just any romance movie, mind you… It won the 2005 MTV Movie Awards for Best Kiss, and the 2005 Teen Choice Awards for Choice Movie Chemistry… A movie that every romance-buff has probably watched at least ten times, and still cries at during certain scenes… That’s right! The movie of the night: The Notebook! (*enter sighs and ahhhs here).

What do I need?

While there will be stalls to buy some snacks before the movie starts, you are also more than welcome to bring your own picnic snacks of chocolate covered strawberries, caramel coated popcorn, Hershey’s Kisses, and Sweetie Pies… But note: the champagne and other (in the mood) alcohol will not be allowed, so stick to Appeltizer or a nice thermos of cappuccino instead.

Please make sure to bring a blanket (as the grass can get a bit wet), or camp chairs to be able to sit snug while watching star-crossed lovers fall in love through words and deeds.

**Both students AND staff are welcome on the night!
