We chose the theme Africa, because we wanted to integrate traditional cultural wear into mainstream narrative – Sibabalwe Madikizela, Prim of Ebukhosini
Each residence this year has truly gone out with their beauty pageant themes. From Oracia’s (Oryx and Acacia residences) Masquerade Baal, to the Retro style of the on-campus residences, and Bohlale’s Vintage… But Ebukhosini decided to keep it traditional, and keep it African. “The word Ebukhosini on its own is associated with deep rural culture, and we wanted to embody that within our theme”, state Sibabalwe.
Upon arrival, a beautiful traditional setting was in place where one would even think that a Prince of a royal African culture was about to get married. Students of different residences gathered in numbers to support their fellow peers and in turn really made this event a success. The MC gave a warm welcome and aided in making sure the event went smoothly, that the audience was on fire and eager to see more; and of course the music was pumping.
Lesego Phetwe, a second year Communication student on Campus, described the event as, “The event was a success, I truly enjoyed every moment of it”.
Towards the end of the event, when all the contestants had strutted their stuff, and while the crown was anxiously awaiting the results; musician Masedi got everyone on their feet dancing.
And the winners are…
- Ms Ebukhosini – Sandile Mokoena
- First Princess – Kamo Khuduga
- Second Princess – Zanele Mbatha
- Mr Ebukhosini – Ntokozo Mtambo
- First Prince – Prince Stapora
- Second Prince – Neo Lesenyeho
Mr Ebukhosini, Ntokozo, stated that his motivatin was his eagerness to explore, and sees the whole experience as being fun and taught him how to keep up with the crowd.
Once again, congratulations to all contestants and we here at Student 24/7 wish them a splendid journey through their academic and modelling careers.
